    The first fire truck was invented in 1720. It's wheels were wooden and only pumped enough water that was equal to two garden hoses. In this time there were no sirens on the "trucks" so the fire fighters used bells and whistles instead.

    The steam powered fire truck is what the horses drew. These fire trucks were used to distinguish big city fires.

    For 50 years horse started to pull fire tucks and stay at the fires. The horses hooves had a better traction on the roads than the wooden wheels did. The horses also wore fire shirts to prevent them from being burned.
  • Gasoline fire tucks.

    Gasoline firetrucks have been around for over a hundred years, and they will be around for awhile. They have been highly equipped and modified to sustain heavy weights and hold many tools.
