    Franz Ferdinand was the heir to the throne of Austria-Hungary. Germany decided to help Austria-Hungary and declared war on Russia (1 August) and France (3 August). The German army prepared to attack France through Belgium, just as General Schlieffen had planned.

    One of the reasons that lead to World War 1. He was killed by a member of the black hand. He was the Archduke of Austria. luckily his wife Sophie, Douchess of Hohenberg.

    Thousands of banks failed leaving people without money and jobs. The great depression lead to several suicide cases. 90% of the stock market value was lost. It lasted from 1929-1933. The great depression hit the nation with dramatic conditions leaving families homeless.

    Japan invaded Manchuria because they believed their empire and the western power empires should be equal sizes. The Chinese soldiers did not attack. Emperor Hirohito began to discuss a plead to his war council regarding surrender. To get back at Japan for crossing the line, the U.S. dropped the monstrous bomb on Hiroshima.

After a series of parliamentary elections and associated backroom intrigues.Adolf Hitler rose to a place of prominence in the early years of the party. Being one of its best speakers, he told the other members to either make him leader of the party or he would never return.

    the German army under Adolf Hitler launched an invasion of Poland that triggered the start of World War II.The battle for Poland only lasted about a month before a Nazi victory.

    A surprise military attack by the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service upon the U.S. Navy base. Caused severe casualties and the lives of hundreds of American soldiers. President declared war of Japan after that tragic event. Pearl Harbor is still remembered to this day.

    The invasion of Normandy is also known as D-day. D-day stands for "death day" due to the amount of casualties. The casualties were over 425,000 Allied and German troops. Allied forces launched a combined naval, air and land assault on Nazi-occupied France.

    The idea of the European self help program was progressive because of George C. Marshall. Lasted from April 1948-December 1951. Used to help rehabilitate 17 European economies. Without it the democratic institution wouldn't survive.

    The Civil Rights Act ended segregation in the U.S. The act banned employment discrimination. The Jim Crow laws were abolished. It also allowed unsegregated schools.

    Martin Luther King Jr.'s Death
    Martin Luther King Jr. was a civil rights activist. He was fatally shot at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee. He was assassinated by James Earl Ray. Ray used a rifle to commit the assassination.
