First SciFi Movie?
Georges Méliès Directs and produces A Trip to the Moon, alongside his brother Gason Méliès, who writes the film. It is named the first SciFi movie, and is prononced one of the top 100 films of the twentieth century. -
Color and Sound?
The Jazz Singer, starring Al Jolson, and directed by Alan Crosland, was the first film in America to have both sound and color added to the feature. It is also one of the first feature-length films. -
Becky Sharp; Colorful Feature?
Becky Sharp becomes the first full-legth feature film in techicolor, a widely popular coloring software, before used for small scenes, and cartoon clips. -
Ben-Hur
Ben-Hur was a fifties film inspired by a silent fiml of the same name. It won a record 11 Academy Awards, which was not achevied until almost 20 years later, with the release of Titanic. -
Titanic: Film Gold
Titanic is filmed, produced and written by James Cameron, becomes the highest grossing film holding the position for 12 years, being only surpassed by Avatar, also directed by James. It won 11 of the 14 Academy Awards it was nominated for, and tied for most Oscars won. It also became the second film to make 2 billion dollars, after it was released a second time. -
Lord of the Rings
The final Lord of the Rings movie is released, and it wins all 11 of it's Academy Awards. The combined winnigs of all three movies include 17 Academy Awards and many other important reveiws and awards. -
Avatar: SciFi Goes Big
Avatar, a film directed and produced by James Cameron, becomes the highest-grossing film of all time, surpassing even Titanic another film by James, which held the position for 12 years. It becasme the first film to exceed 2 billion dollars in earnings. -
Harry Potter; Best Film Series?
The fifteenth of July 2011 marks the last movie of the highest-grossing film series of all-time, (In inflation unadjusted dollars) In their eight movies, they totalled 7.7 billion dollars. It has beaten Star Wars , and the first 22 James Bond movies. -
The Avengers
The Avengers is released, and earns the biggest opening weekend for any film, became the fastest film to gross one million. It also become the third highest grossing film. -
Twilight: Midnight Mania
The twilight series attracted many fans, and all five of it's movies were record-breakers, and award winners. The second, New Moon was the record-breaking midnight-screening release, and the series grossed 2.2 million. November 16th was marked the release of the last movie.
