    The Cinematograph was an early version of movie cameras and film projectors. Around 1895, Auguste and Louis Lumiere began filming short sequences on their new cinematograph. It was presented to the public and there were 10 sequences depicting daily life lasting roughly 50 seconds each.

    The first feature-length multi-reel film in the world was, "The Story of the Kelly Gang." It was produced in 1906 in Australia. Before this, films were no longer than 1 reel.

    The American film industry began to relocate from New York to California. This was due to the relocation of filmmakers to that location. Thomas Edison's MPPC was the cause of the move due to fear.

    The 1940's started seeing the use of technicolor in order to have color on film. The creation of technicolor dates back to 1916 but its use was difficult and started to gain popularity later.

    The 1950's saw the production of the television. This decreased the audience that would appear in theaters. Some studios have been able to get ack an audience cause of their popular movies, but some struggled.

    The Blockbuster era began in 1975. It began after the release of Jaws directed by Steven Spielberg. The film became very popular and was very financially successful.

    By the 2000s, computer animation started to take over traditional animation. Many studios became known and widely popular due to the medium. Traditional animated films are still made but rarely.

    The 2010's saw many very successful movie releases being in the genre of superheroes. Marvel's Avengers movies have been the highest grossing for each year they come out. Avengers Endgame was the highest-grossing movie of all time at one point.
