  • Smith Hughes act of 1917

    The Smith-Hughes Vocational Act of 1917 was an act of the US Congress that promoted vocational agriculture to train people and provided federal funds for this act.
  • Virgina The first state.

    Virginia formed a Future Farmersof Virginia club for boys in agriculture classes. And soon added other states.
  • FFA national org.

    FFA became a national orgainization. A network of teachers guided the establishment of FFA as a team effort to establish club for boys wiht similar farm interest.
  • NFA (New farmers of America)

    NFA was formed for black students in the south to be able to participate in FFA.
  • Fedral charter law.

    FFA became one of few student orgainizations to recieve a federal charter from congress (Public law 740).
  • FFA and NFA

    In 1965 the FFA and NFA merged together and both black and white students worked together.
  • FFA allowed girls.

    In 1969 girls were allowed in FFA for the forst time in History ever.
  • Name change for FFA

    In 1988 Name change from future farmers of America to National FFA orgainization to reflect the growing diversity in the agricultural industry .
  • National convention 2012

    In 2012 National convention completes 7 year run in Indeanapolis and returns to louisville, Kentucky in 2013 for 3 years.
