In 1920, There was the first Future Farmer of American club. This club was only for boys at this time and there was 76 boys from 16 schools that competed in a judging contest.

In !928, FFA became a National organization. A network of teachers guided the establishment of FFA as a team effort to establish a club for boys with similar farm interrests.

In !935, NFA was formed for black students in the south. NFA stood for New Farmers of America.

In 1988, The FFA name changed from Future Farmers of America to National FFA organization to relflect the growing diversity in the agriculture industry.
