    FFA opens membership to girls

    Julie Smiley from Washington is named the 1st female to hold national office.

    7th and 8th grade students are allowed to become FFA members.

    72nd FFA convention is held in Louisville, Kentucky.

    FFA launched "Seeds of Hope", breaks $10 million mark in raising money for FFA programs and sevices.
