  • Smith Hughes Act

    The Smith Hughes Act established funds for agriculture classes in high school.
  • Virginia

    The first state to have a future farmers club for boys only was Virginia.
  • National Organization

    FFA is now a national organization. Many teachers within schools are guiding the establishment of the FFA organization to make a club for boys with farm interests.
  • FFA Creed

    The FFA Creed that was written by E.M. Tiffany has now been adopted.
    The first FFA national public speaking event was held. The winner of the event was Edward Drace from Missouri.
  • FFA Jacket

    The blue corduroy jacket was adopted.
  • NFA

    The New Farmers of America was formed for colored students with agricultural interests
  • FFA Convention

    First National FFA Band performs at the national FFA convention.
  • Public Law

    FFA recieved a federal charter from congress called the Public Law 81-740. FFA was one of very little student organizations to recieve this charter.
  • President at the convention

    President Dwight D. Eisenhower was the first U.S. President to speak at the National FFA Convention.
  • NFA and FFA

    The NFA and FFA merged into one group
  • Girls and FFA

    Girls were allowed to join FFA for the very first time.

    Jan Eberly from California, was the first female national FFA President
  • Name Changing

    The name of Future Farmers of America was changed to the National FFA Organization so that everyone could reflect the growing diversity in the agricultural industry.
  • PALS

    The Partners in Active Learning Support (PALS) program was launched.
  • Star Farmer

    The first female, named Karlene Lindow from Wisconsin, was named Star Farmer.
  • National Convention

    The National Convention completes a seven year run in Indianapolis and returns to Louisville, Kentucky in the year 2013 for three years.
