  • Citizenship begins

    White's were granted citizenship. Had to be living in US for 2 or more years. Known as the Naturalization Act. Non-whites could not vote, testify in court, or own property.

  • Immigration Begins

    Peace is re-established with Britian. Which caused Irish to start moving into the US.

  • Steerage Act of 1819

    US passed this act to make captains improve traveling conditions

  • The 14th Amendment

    Granted citizenship to all who were born or naturalized in the US also to African Americans

  • Naturalization Act

    Gave more rights to African Americans but still denied rights & protection to other non white immigrants

  • Chinese Exclusion Act

    Chinese immigrants were excluded from entering the US. Did not give them the option to become citizens

  • Citizenship Revoked

    Stripped US born women to their citizenship if they married a non citizen immigrant

  • Indians Join In

    Grants all the native Americans born in the US a automatic citizenship
