    Origionally the Warsaw Pact was a response to a similar treaty made by the Western Allies (NATO). But the Warsaw Treaty was really based on total equality of each nation and mutual non-interference in one another's internal affairs. The Pact became a powerful tool for the Soviet Union over its allies.

    This war was between North Vietnam and South Vietnam. The U.S supported South Vietnam because they wanted to prevent the spread of communism and to unify the country of Vietnam.

    This was an unsuccesful invasion of Cuba. The plan was to have two air strikes against cuban airbases but what really happened was that eight bombers left Nicaragua to bomb the Cuban airfields but the bombers missed many of their targets and left most of the airforce intact.

    After the war, West Germany set up a capitalist society and experienced such a rapid growth of their economy. Since the Soviet Union had viewed East Germany as a spoil of war, the Soviets took out factory equipment and other important things from their zone and shipped them back. Because of this people started to leave the East. To keep the people in they built up the Berlin Wall.

    The Soviet Union was making missile sites on Cuba and the U.S found out. After hearing about this, Kennedy put up a naval blockade around Cuba. The U.S and Sovient Union both agreed to remove their missiles so there would be no nuclear war.
