Events leading up to the Declaration of independence

    Ben Franklin wanted to get other colonies to discuss how they were being attacked by the french, but the colonies denied it. All 13 colonies denied it now, but later ended up being the ones working together and declaring for independence.
  • The stamp act

    This is the first time the 13 colonies joined to oppose the British government. The American colonists didn't want to do the taxes the british was making them do.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    British army soldiers shot and killed colonists while under attack by a mob. After this event, colonists established the committees of correspondence. This purpose was to let each colony know what important events were happening. This shows the colonies working together again for independence. The angry british soldiers and American colonists later lead to the American revolution.

    Colonists didn't want to pay taxes on british tea, so they dumped hundreds of crates of tea in the Boston harbor. This was a political protest. These events led to the revolutionary war and later, the declaration of independence.

    This was a term used by the American Patriots for a series of laws passed by the british parliament after the boston tea party. The congress drafted a declaration claiming that the intolerable acts were unconstitutional.

    this was a meeting of delegates from twelve of the thirteen colonies. This was early in the American revolution. The americans were fed with the intolerable acts and didn't want to follow them anymore.

    This battle was the first military engagements of the American revolutionary war. This happened from tensions of the british and the americans.

    This was a meeting between all thirteen colonies. The event was after the american revolutionary war started and succeeded the first congress. This moved towards independence.
