  • Berlin Airlift

    Berlin Airlift
    In response to the Soviet Union blockade of ground routes going into West Berlin. Since the blockade was happening and Berlin was running out of resources. The United States began bringing mass loads of foods, mediciine,water, clothing, and other needed neccesities for more than 2 million individuals. Over 200,000 planes were involved carrying roughly half a million tons of supplies. In May of 1949 the Blockade was then removed and West Germany became it's own independant nation.
  • The Korean War

    The Korean War
    The Korean war was a war that was fought between the North and South. The North had the United Nations, United States, fighting on their side. While on the other hand the South China and the Soviet Union fighting for their side. While Korea was ruled by Japan in the years of 1910-1945, the Soviet Union had declared war on Japan while occupying the Norths 38th parallel. The United States occupied the Souths 38th parallel and Japan surrendered. This war had come to an end in July of 1953.

    The Marshall Plan was an aid for Western Europe to which the United States gave $13 Billion in economic support to rebuild Western Europe after world war II. The goal was to rebuild war-devastated areas, rebuilding trading/selling industries, to help Europe prosper again, and lastly, to stop spread of communism.

    The Rosenberg Spy Case
    Julius and Ethel Greenglass Rosenberg were Citizens of America that were excuted for a conspiriracy of them passing information to the Soviet Union about the Atomic Bomb being built. Julius and Ethel Rosenberg were the only people executed for passing information because others were given time instead of death because they gave the FBI information that they had wanted. The Rosenbergs were then executed for their crimes commited against America's Top secret project
  • Vietnam War

    The Vietnam War armed conflict that pitted the communist regime of North Vietnam and their southern allies, known as the Viet Cong, against South Vietnam and their ally, the United States. after Ho Chi Minh rose to power with his communist Viet Minh party in North Vietnam. During the Vietnam war more than around 3 million people were killed. More than half were Vietnamise civiilans.

    The Truman Doctrine was a policy made to stop Soviet Imperalism during the time period of the Cold War. The Doctrine was announced to congress by president Harry S. Truman and he pledged to contain threats to Turkey and Greece.
  • Bay of Pigs Invasion

    The CIA launched, what was believed to be the definitive strike, a full-scale invasion of Cuba by and estiumated 1,400 American-trained Cubans who had fled their homes when Fidel Castro took over. However, the invasion did not go well: The invaders were greatly outnumbered by Castro’s troops, and they surrendered after less than a 24 hour time period of fighting.
  • Cuban Missle Crisis

    Cuban Missle Crisis
    The leaders of the U.S. and the Soviet Union were in a 13-day standoff over the installation of nuclear-armed Soviet missiles on Cuba. President John Kennedy notified Americans about the missiles, explained his decision to blockade around Cuba and then made it clear the U.S. was prepared to use military force if necessary to neutralize this threat. Civilians feared that the world was going to go into a necleur war, but was avoided when United States agreed to remove missles from Turkey.

    The year of 1969 was when the United States had sent the first man to moon, but also known as the Space Race. The space race was between Soviet Union and United States. The race was to have supremacy of space traveling capabilities. This race showed basically who was "better". This had it's origins to the missile- based nuclear race which was also between the two rivalries which took place in world war 2. The Soviet Union and United States competed between eachother and Americans Suceeded.
