    Patient is admitted to the hospital once again. He has been experiencing chronic progressive polyneuropathy of unknown etiology over the past eight years and has lost 45lbs in the last year. He also has been experiencing hypoxia, diffuse weakness, and respiratory insufficiency over the past two months which brought him to the hospital. Numerous tests and labs are drawn to find the cause of his weakness and chronic progressive neuropathy but none showed any indications of etiology.
  • Intubated!

    Intubated!
    Patient's respiratory function declines and he experiences hypercarbia (pCO2 85) and hypoxia with sleeping SpO2 at 84% and 4 RPM. So an ETT is placed and he must be mechanically ventilated. Patient's mom, stepdad, and siblings visit daily, but his father (who lives in Minnesota) has not been involved in patient's care. However, patient's paternal grandparents are involved, as well as his maternal grandparents.
