  • Bernardo Razzimazzi

    1. Said how all of the negative changes to the environment (dust, chemicals, etc;) could harm people.
    2. He also used the Cinchona to help treat Malaria.

  • Industrial Revolution

    1. The smoke from all of the factories pollute the air.
    2. It also used up natural resources that could not be renewed.

  • Thomas Malthus

    1. Said that if the population doesn’t get counted the our resources could run out.
    2. He also said that the way people lived could be harmful for the environment and or other people.

  • Agricultural revolution

    1. During this period on time, more tools were invented to use on the farm and to help crops grow.
    2. Gave more food to people.

  • Civilian Conservation Corps

    1. It focused on road construction, flood control, reforestation, and soil erosion prevention.
    2. It also improved/constructed state/national parks in America.

  • World War II

    1. All of the oil fields, fires, smoke and chemicals polluted the air.
    2. Soil and water were also polluted.

  • General Motors (Ethyl Corp.)

    1. They reduced the engine “knock”, but they also increased the pollution coming from cars.
    2. They also created a gasoline that was worse for the environment that the regular gasoline.

  • Four Pests Campaign

    1. They chose four animals to be eliminated for agricultural reasons rats, flies, mosquitoes, and sparrows.
    2. With no sparrows to eat them, locust populations grew, swarming the country and compounding the ecological problems already caused by the Great Leap Forward.

  • Tragedy of the Commons

    1. It states that many of the environmental problems today are caused by people and overpopulation and the over use of natural resources
    2. It also says that the quality of life that people are living is hurting the Earth and everything and everyone on it.

  • Rainbow Warrior (sinking)

    1. Ended nuclear bomb testing within the Pacific Ocean.
    2. It also stoped illegal fishing and shipments of illegal wood.

  • Chernobyl

    1. This made environment in that area in radio active
    2. It also polluted the surrounding water.

  • Exxon Valdez

    1. This was an Oil Spill.
    2. It occurred in Alaska, travceled towards California and hit Prince William Sound’s Bligh Reef.

  • Persian Gulf War

    1. Over 11 million barrels of oil were released into the Gulf.
    2. There was also Air pollution from the fire and smoke.

  • China’s Three Gorges Dam

    1. It created more electricity than 18 nuclear power plants.
    2. It was located on the Yangzi River in China.

  • “An Inconvenient Truth”

    1. It said that global warming is real.
    2. It also said that global warming will and has extinct organisms.

  • BP Gulf Oil Spill

    1. This contaminated the water in the Gulf of Mexico.
    2. 8000 birds, sea turtles, and marine animals were found dead or injured as a result of this.
