School
Ender is a student. The government put a monitor on Ender in order to see his thoughts through mind games. When the monitor was taken out a group of bullies tried to beat him up but Ender was forced to brutally beat up the leader of the bullies. The reason the bullies attacked him was because he countinued to beat them in games. The whole point of the monitor was in order for the government to see Ender's thoughts and weather he is enough to make it through battle and possible command school. -
Family
A huge part in Ender's life was his sister; Valentine. She ment alot to him and it was hard for him to leave her. Ender also had a brother named Peter. Peter was very angry partly because Ender wore the monitor longer than he did. Peter never will forgive Ender for this. -
Anger
Anger is a weakness in Ender's character. After the monitor was taken off, Ender got in a fight with some bullies at the school. He just lost his temper and kept beating him up until he stopped breathing. Then later when he is at battle school he gets in a fight with Bonzo. Bonzo attacked Ender when he was in the shower. He ended up beating Bonzo. He later found out that he killed both the Bully and Bonzo. -
Battle School
Battle School is another huge step for Ender. On the way to battle school Ender shows his brilliance towards gravity. At battle school he was the first one to figure out the battle field. He then took lessons from Petra on how to manuver the practice battle field. He then was put in command of his own army. -
Ender's Brilliance
Movie reviewEnder uses his abilities to impress the commanders by going very far in the mind game. Ender then figures out how to manuver in the null gravity which is the practice battle field. In a movie review on plugedin they say that Colonial Graft is looking for a person that does not think like a normal military commander. -
Friends
The government pretended not to be Enders friend but in the end they actually supported him. Peter acts like he is Valletine's friend only to use her. Petra and Dink are always Ender's friends even though it is sometimes hard to see. Ender depended alot on his friends. -
Friendship
While reading this book I understood how important my friends are. For example I needed a ride to work and my friend Lawana was there to help. Friends are also their to support you and to listen. When my father died my friends Andrew and Skyler were there to listen and support me in my time of sorrow. -
Games
Ender's Game reviewThe Government is useing games in order to fight war and to recruit soldiers. The games can tell what Ender is thinking and they helped Ender show his brilliance. The mind game helped Ender figure out how to communicate with the buggers. Games were one of the themes in this book. -
Ruthlessness
The attitude of the government shows ruthlessness towards the buggers and the soldiers. The armies were trained to kill the buggers. The buggers did not come to hurt people, they came in order to expand there civilization. The government decieved Ender about the buggers by pretending that the war game was simply a simulation. Instead they were actually at war with the bugger and destroyed their civilization. -
Enders Attitude
Enders goal through out the whole book is to figure out his enemy. He understood Bonzo before Bonzo attacked him. When he attacked the buggers in the simulation he was angry because he hadnt figured out this enemy. "In the moment when I truly understand my enemy, understand him well enough to defeat him, then in that very moment I also love him." (chapter 13) After he relized that the buggers were not trying to attack them he had compassion for them and tried to help. -
Setting
The setting of the story takes place on earth in the future and in space. In the beggining the setting takes place on earth at school and at Ender's house. Battle school takes place on a ship in space where they practice in a anti gravity field. Then when Ender goes to command school it takes place on a ship that is parked on an old bugger planet. -
Climax
The climax of the story is when Ender finds out it was not a simulation that he was fighting in but was the real attack on the buggers. I was happy for ender that he completed the simulation( so I thought) but when I found out it was the real battle, I was concerned for Ender. He was crushed because he later found out that the buggers were not mean but were just trying to find a new home. -
Compassion
Author reviewEnder had compassion towards his enemy. After Ender hurt and killed Bonzo and the bully back at school he was crushed. To try and fix his mistake, Ender helped the Queen Bugger find a new planet for her eggs. -
My Compassion
I had compasion for Ender because he was always put into situations where he had to fight and defend himself. I had compassion for him when he found out that Bonzo and the bully back at school died. I then felt compassion for him when he figured out that he really blew up the planet. He was in despair and so was I. -
Reader view point
This story was very well written. I would recommend this story to friends. I enjoyed how this story builds on Ender's character. In the beggining of the story I pictured Ender as a geek. As I contunied to reader the story I decided that Ender was not a geek but was very bright and athletic. The author did a great job not leading you on in what was going to happen.
