    Columbus New World landing
    This is when the first group of Europeans landed in the New World. Christopher Columbus was the leader of this group to land in the New World. Although he landed in the New World, Columbus did not know he landed in the New World, he thought he landed in Asia. When he landed in the New World, he named the island he landed on San Salvador and claiming it for Spain. On the island, he met a group of inhabitants, he named them the Indians because he thought he thought they were in Asia.

    The Spanish Empire
    After Columbus landing in the New World, Spain started sending more explorers there. They also sent conquistadors so they can conquer and claimed land for Spain. In 1519, a man named Hernan Cortes sailed to Mexico and reached the Aztec empire. He failed led to conquered it in 1519, he then came back in 1521 and took over the Aztecs. Later, Francisco Pizarro then did the same thing with the Incas.

    Cortes Conquered the Aztecs
    Spanish Conquistador, Hernan Cortes landed on the land where the Aztec empire is during 1519. He pretended to be friendly person at first and then betrayed them by kidnapping Montezuma II, They captured him for a while, but then Cortes have to leave to take care of some business. The Aztecs then went against the Spanish, so the Spanish have to fight their way out. Then in 1521, Cortes came back with a stronger force and took over the Aztec empire,
  • Jamestown: The First English Colony

    Jamestown: The First English Colony
    John Cabot claimed a land in the Americas naming it Jamestown after King John. The settlers weren't so lucky, when they arrived they were surrounded by the natives. John Smith is the leader at Jamestown was then captured by the Natives but was saved by Pocohontas. John Rolfe, the leader after John Smith later married Pocohontas to keep peace with the settlers and the Natives.

    New France
    A French explorer Samuel de Champlain established a colony in Quebec, Canada. His goal was to find the North West passage that would take him across the continent, but he failed that why he claimed the land. The French made allie with a Native American group, the Huron for Fur Trade. The French trades in weapon for furs. The French also get involved with the battle with the Iroquois.

    French Battle with the Iroquois
    To improve the relation with the Huron, the French supported them in a battle with the Huron. The French provided them with weapons, like guns. In this battle Samuel de Champlain fire his musket at the Iroquios and killed 2 Iroquios at the same time.
  • Rhode Island Colony

    In 1636 Roger Williams was kicked out of Massaschuset Bay Colony. He was kicked due to difference in Religion thinking. He then left Massaschusetts he settled at an island. He decided to purchased the land and making it a free religion colony. After that the island was named Rhode Island.
  • New Netherlands

    New Netherlands
    The Dutch first settled dowin in the island of Manhattan and then ally up with Iroquois. They are the rivals of the French who also ally up with the Huron.Henry Hudson was the explorer to land oan the island of Manhattan. Settlers that came start a Dutch East India company to trade furs with Indians in that area. Then Peter Stuyvesant came and renamed the place Newe Amsterdam. But the settlement was short because the English has taken over that place, peacefully.

    The Dutch surrendered it claimed land, New Netherland in the Americas to the English without any shot fired. The English needed New Netherlands for it colony. The English requested kindly but the Peter Stuyvesant decline. When the English arrived, the Dutcy wants to fight but their gun supply was wet & damp.

    British cannot afford to go to war with the Indians anymore. So they set a perimeter to divide the settlers and the Indians. The Settlers were to stay East of the Applachian Mts. and the Indian to stay west. The Colonist argued that there were more farmland to the west of the Appalacian Mts. and that the land in the East were mostly settled already. The British ignored the colonist and expanded the British to 7,500 men.

    After the British won the French & Indian War, the British have large debts to pay off. So the British made the colonies to pay the taxes. The Colonists argued because there were no representations about the decision. The Patriots started protesting, violence and buried the tax collector alive. Then the British stopped the act because of the protest.
  • The Quartering Act

    The Quartering Act
    The British government don't have enough money to provide British soldiers with housing & foods. So they started the Quartering act where Colonists have to provide food, house, etc for the soldiers. The Colonist protest because it is just like paying taxes. They also said that the soldiers just took up space & did nothing. The British government responded by refusing to let the New York assembly to meet until they agreed to pay the quartering act.
  • The Townshend Act

    The Townshend Act
    Charles Townshend believed that the colonist's bad behaviour have made it necessary to put British troops in their colony. So he started the Townshend act, which the colonist have to pay for the army's import of goods from England. The Colonists believed this as tax, so Samuel Adams, wrote a letter to all Colonies to boycott all British goods.
  • The Tea Act

    The Tea Act
    The British-East Company isn't dong so well because of the American Colonies boycott. So they need to sell their teas. Lord North then start the Tea Act where the Colonist have to buy tea from the British East India Company only for a cheap price. The Colonists knew it was paying taxes. So when the tea ships arrived from England from Boston, the Colonist kept them away from the port. The Son of Libery dressed up as Indians and unload the tea into the sea which is now known as Boston Tea Party.
  • The Intolerable Act

    The Intolerable Act
    King George think that the Bostonians had gone too far and it is to punish them for the Boston Tea Party. So he started the Intolerable Act. This is for the punishment to the Massaschusetts colony. The law was so harsh that the colonists called it intolerable. Then the Colonies began to unite together and the Virginians started a meeting with all the colony. The delegates then wrote a respectfull letter to King George.
  • Lexington & Concord

    Lexington & Concord
    The battle at Lexington & Concord was the first battle in the revolutionary war. General Gage was informed by a spy that the colonists were hiding a large supply of gunpowder & weapons in Concord. He ordered 700 men to go and seize the supply. When the British were walking into Lexington, a shot rang out. The British soldiers started to fire back and there were a lot of Colonists dead. When the British soldiers arrived at Concord they didn't find the supply, and the Colonist defeat them.
  • Second Continental Congress

    THe Second Continental Congress met together to create an army. They first started the army calling it New England army. George Washington and John Adams of Massaschusetts decided to call it the Continental Army. The Congress and Adams then elected Washington as the leader of the Continental Army.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    Militiamen near Boston decided to fortified two hills that overlooked the city Boston. General Howe was then worried about this. He sent English troops to the hill to attack the militia. The militia was ordered not to fire until they were really close. They did as they were told. The British had to attack the hill about three times before the Colonist fall back due to lack of gunpowder.
  • Olive Branch Petition

    Olive Branch Petition
    A petition was sent to the King by the Congress to seek peace. By the time the petition arrived in England, the King had already declared the colonies to be in an open and avowed rebellion. He also the colonists traitor. Being called a traitor changed one of Washington's General to change his mind to seperate the Colonists from England.
  • The Siege of Boston

    The Siege of Boston
    Goerge Washington needed gunpowders to defeat the British in Boston. Washington sent a letter to all the colonies to ask for gunpowder after his troops was short of it. He got his gunpowder but still did not dare to attack the British. Washington then decided to sent a Boston bookseller Henry Know to Fort Ticonderoga to get weapons, cannons, etc. The Colonist then attacked Boston firing cannons at the city. Instead of fighting the colonists, Howe ordered to abandon the city.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Thomas Jefferson of Virginia wrote a draft of the declaration of Independence. He explained why the colonies should break ties with England. He also claimed that King George is an unfit ruler for free people. When this was written, all 12 colonies voted for Independence, except for New York , which didn't make a vote. On July the 4th, the final piece of the Declaration of Independence was publish.

    The brittish met up with the Americans at Brooklen, NewYork. The Americans were there trying to protect their land from the British troops, they started of with high hopes, however when they fought the Americans were no match for the british troops. The British won with ease because they have a lot more troops and they are better trained and equipped.
  • Victory @ Trenton

    Victory @ Trenton
    Washington ordered his men to attack Trenton. The Americans made their way to Trenton going through and Icey water. The American soldiers were very tired and in need of motivation, thats when George Washington read the words of Thomas Pain from his pamphlet The Crisis. Soon afterwords they arrived at land and attak the British mencenariresm this victory kept the Americans people going.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    Battle of Saratoga
    The British soldiers were moving to Saratoga Springs toward Philadaelphia. The area was swarming with militias, the British were outnumbered.Burgoyne ordered his troops to attack again & again but were beaten by the rebels. Burgyone then accepted a defeat at Saratoga. This Victory marked as a turning point of the war and after the victory, the French became an ally of the United States.
  • Yorktown

    Yorktown
    Cornwallis was tired of his army being chased by the Colonists. He decided to put his troops at Yorktown. The French now have arrived to support the Continental Army. Washington then used the French and his own army to set a trap at Yorktown. The French warship also came in to a a harbour near Yorktown and British hopes of support & rescue from British Navy is over. Cornwallis then surrendered.
  • Treaty of Paris

    After the war ended, representatives from the United States and Britain signed a peace treaty. The treaty has three important parts: 1. Great Britain recognizes the United States as an independent nations. 2. British gave up all it claims between the Atlantic Coast and the Mississippi river from Canada to the South and 3. the United States will return all rights and properties to the Loyalists.
  • Ratification of AoC

    The Article of Confederation was a set of laws passed out by the government of each state. After the revolutionary war, the Americans started this law to maintain the future of the United States.
  • Shays Rebellion

    A hero of the battle of Bunker Hill, led a rebellion for farmers who was not able to pay the debt and is about to be arrested.In the rebellion they attacked the courthouse and a weapon arsenal.
  • The Louisiana Purchase

    This is when the U.S purchased a land that was part of France Colonization. The land was called Louisiana. The U.S bought this the Louisiana for $15 million which is equal to $219 million today.
  • Spain gives Florida to the U.S

    Andrew Jackson attacked Florida and found out Spain became weaker. With that, the U.S controlled Eastern parts of Florida. Spain later decided to cede Florida to the U.S in 1819.
  • The Indian Removal Act

    President Andrew Jackson wants more land for the Americans to live in. The United States already got Florida and the Louisiana. This is where a lot of Native Americans live. President Jackson forced the Indian Removal Act. This Act states that Indians must be moved to a Reservation.
  • The 'Trail of Tears'

    The 'Trail of Tears'
    When President Andrew Jackson made the Indian Removal Act, Natives were forced to move to a reservation. The tribe, Cherokee were forced to walk along a trail. THis trail is known as the Trail of Tears. A tribe resisted this and started a war with the United States but later ended with U.S victory. The Natives had to walk 1200 miles to their reservation.
  • Texas is annexed

    The U.S want to annex the Republic of Texas. This leaded to the Mexican-American War. The U.S acquired this territory for $10 million dollars. It is acquired by a treaty.
  • Oregon Treaty

    Oregon Treaty
    When a person went to Oregon they reported as one of the best land. Many people chose to move there because of its nice farmland. It was reported as the pioneer paradise. Polk, who was running a campaign for him being president, he used taking Oregon as his campaign. He was voted as president. Polk didn't want to take all Oregon and risk war with Britain. He decided to make a treaty to divide Oregon in half. A line of treaty was marked along the 49th parallel.

    This was war between the U.S and Mexico. The war was started for U.S territory acquisition. In the war, the U.S was able to take Texas. The war ended with a U.S victory. There was the treaty of Guadalope Hidalgo. In the treaty the U.S was able to take the land along the Pacific Coast.
  • Civil War

    After 11 southern states seceded from the Union, they created the Confederate states of America. The Civil war first started when the Confederate bombarded a Union held fort. The war ended in 1865. The Civil war is America's most bloodiest war with the death of 620,000 and undetermined amount of civilians casualites.
