The plan was suggested by Benjamin Franklin to unify the 13 colonies together. It was named after the city in which the idea was brought up, Albany, New York.

As apart of Britain's taxation on the colonies that required the use of stamps on all legal documents. After many refusals the act was repealed by british parliament, and in place they brought colonies under more power from London which ended in mob style violence.

One of the first battles fought, concord was key in the activation of the american revolution. Many believed that compromise was no longer an option. The militia acted upon hearing of the shots at Lexington.

After Britain refused to compromise at all, "the shot heard round the world" has occurred as Lexington and concord battles had been fought. The continental army was formed and Thomas Jefferson wrote a version of the Olive branch petition. Colonists were angered by Britain selfishness.

After Richard Henry Lee's proposition to the congress to unite all the colonies and make them their own independent states, congress members, such as Thomas Jefferson, began drafting the document that would be sent to the King as other members debated what would be put on the document. Below all the members signed their names.
