    David Bloor was born in Derby, United Kingdom. He is a British Sociologist. He is a professor in the Science Studies Unit at the University of Edinburgh. He was influenced by Ludwig Wittgenstein.
  • David Bloor Education

    He started his academic career in philosophy and psychology. In 1972 he was awarded a PhD from the University of Edinburgh for his thesis "Speech and the regulation of Behaviour". He is a former director of the Social Studies Unit at the University of Edinburgh. David Bloor has written many books of his sociological analysis of science ranging from 1983 to 2011.

    For his book Knowledge and Social Imagery David Bloor was awarded the John Desmond Bernal Prize by the Society for Social Studies of Science in 1996 in recognition of his distinguished contribution to the field.
