  • The National Apprenticeship Act 1937 AKA the Fitzgerald Act

    1937 National Apprenticeship Act. established a national advisory committee to research and draft regulations establishing minimum standards for apprenticeship programs.Widespread protests by workers on issues of health and job safety contributed to the passage of this law.     The George Barden Act of 1946 established vocational funds to be used by CTSO's. Federal dollars for vocational education were more than doubled which added funding for two student agriculture related organizations FFA and New Farmers of America. And set limits on equipment spending WWII veterans returning during post war industrial boom due to the need for cars

  • Vocational Nurse Practice Act 1951

    The California Board of Vocational Nursing was also established in 1951. Although there have been many amendments, some language in the state’s Vocational Nurse Practice Act remains unchanged since 1951. The legislators who originally crafted the act defined vocational nursing as performing the technical skills that one acquires “by means of a course in an accredited school of vocational nursing”

    Personal Responsibility and Work opportunity Act of 1996- recipients of welfare were required to work with in two years of receiving federal assistance. They were allowed to count up to 12 months of CTE training as work and teenage parents were allowed to use high school attendance as part of their work requirements
