  • First Continental Congress

    First Continental Congress
    Sent a Declaration of Rights, protesting against Britian's policies and told each of the colonies to refuse any trade with England until the taxes were taken away.

    Second Continental Congress
    The Second Continental Congress became the nation's first government, but had no foundation and they were called traitors to the British. This form of government was a basic need for the colonies.

    The first announcement of independance towards the United States from England. States all the wrongs and injuries done by Britain.

    Created a friendship among the states , and each state kept sovereignty, freedom, and independance.

    Shay's Rebellion
    Farmers rebel against the government after they begin to lose your land and possessions for lack of payment on taxes and their debts.
  • The Virginia Plan

    The Virginia Plan
    This plan called for a new government that consisted of three branches which were the Executive, Legislative, and Judical. This government would also be bicameral. The representation in each house would be determined by the population of the state.
  • The New Jersey Plan

    The New Jersey Plan
    This plan stated that the government would be unicameral and each state would be equally represented. Also the congress would have limited power to tax and regulate trade among the states.
  • Connecticut Compromise

    Connecticut Compromise
    Stated that Congress should be made up of two houses and in the smaller senate, the states would be equally represented, but the representation would be based upon the population of the state. Combined features of both the Virginia Plan and the New Jersey Plan.

    Constitution
    The United States Constitution is written and signed by 39 delegates. Most of the Consitution came from the Articles Of Confederation. This document stated our freedom from England and our beginning of being an independent country.
