    First Canadian Postage Stamp
    Before the first ever Canadian postage stamp, hand stamps were used to mark letters and mail that was transferred one place to another. This was one of the biggest events to happen for communication in the 1850's. Following stamps had the picture of Queen Victoria's head printed in the middle.

    Money Order System
    The money order system was made to help safely get money to different locations. This system would mail money without actually sending cash so no risks would be involved.
  • Stamp Function Improved

    Stamp Function Improved
    In 1857, 6 years after the first ever Canadian stamp was released a new format was created. The new setup was designed to make putting the stamp to the envelope easier by using pasting glue.
  • Street Letter Boxes are Introduced

    Street Letter Boxes are Introduced
    In Toronto the first ever street letter box was created in 1859. This made receiving mail or letters more practical and is an invention some people still use to this is day. This invention spread to Quebec in 1867.
  • Atlantic Service

    Atlantic Service
    The Atlantic service was created in 1860 for a more practical way to send mail to different countries. This service went from Montreal to Liverpool, England and from Liverpool, England to Montreal. This was a established by the postal department for more convenience in the mail industry.

    In 1866 a transAtlantic was installed in North America and Europe so the countries could connect more and be tied together for many years to come. The telegraph was almost like a Morris code for both the countries to easily communicate.

    Research Towards the Telephone
    Creator of the telephone Alexander Graham Bell, started his research and plans towards the telephone in 1874. In this year Alexander found financial backers to that offered him the best business opportunity for bringing the telephone to the market.

    On 1876, Alexander Graham Bell spoke the first words into the telephone. He spoke "Mr. Watson, come here, I want you." This was the beginning of the most used and advanced communication device today. This was the day Alexander finally held and used the device he had invented and worked on for the past 4 years. This telephone was patent by Alexander Graham Bell on this day.
  • First Telephone Line

    First Telephone Line
    Over the two years 1877 and 1878 the first ever telephone line was constructed. This made it possible for people to use the telephone to communicate with people around them or further. This was the year that public people where able to use the telephone for the first time. From 1877-1879 over 49,000 telephones where in use.
