On December 11th, 1620, Pilgrams from England established Plymouth colony in Massachusetts. Before getting off of the Mayflower (their ship) 41 of the male passengers signed the Mayflower compact. The settlers and the Native Americans celebrated their first Thanksgiving together. Due to half of the colonists dying in the first year of being there, the Native Americans, including Squanto, taught them how to grow native foods, resulting in the first Thanksgiving (Fritzer 26). In the summer of 1692 in Salem, Massachusetts, a great amount of accusations of witch craft were made by a number of young girls. Two hundred people were eventually accused. Georgia officially became an English colony in 1752. It was founded by James Oglethorpe in 1733 and was the last of Great Britain's colonies to be established. The British patrol lead by George Washington, killed Ensign de Jumonville and a third of his escort. Later, at Fort Necessity, Washington is forced to surrender after losing on third of his force. This was a retaliation for the killing of Ensign de Jumonville and his troops.

Moncton captured Fort Beausejour in the battle of the Momonagahela. Major General Edward Braddock was defeated in this battle.
