They called this the great smog. The cause of the great smog was the weather. Because it was so cold in London people had to burn more coal . Also the diesel engine had just been mastered and everyone was using it. All of the pollution was trapped in by the cold air so it stayed close to the ground and caused it to be foggy. The fogginess was from the pollution, this resulted in many deaths and sicknesses. This made people rethink about the pollution. 1804 Lewis and Clark Expedition begins.
