Military alliance of Communist nations including the USSR, East Germany, and Poland. -

Anti-Soviet demonstrations were taking place in Hungary, then Krushchev crushed the revolt by using tanks. -

First satellite to orbit the earth. Made by the Russians to send radio signals back to Earth. -

He was part of the Cuban revolution when communist forces tried to seize control of Cuba. -

The U2 incident was when the U2 American spy plane was spotted and shot down by the USSR. -
JFK
During the Cold War JFK tried to work the missile faults. -

First Russian cosmonaut to ever travel into space. -
Bay of Pigs
This is where Cuban exiles would invade Cuba and lead a revolt against Castro. President JFK gave the orders for this invasion and it failed. -

This wall was built to keep East Germans from fleeing to West Germany. Major symbol of division between 2 powers. -
Cuban Missile Crisis
USSR placed nuclear missiles in Cuba. USA and USSR became were on brink of a Nuclear War. -
Vietnam War
Vietnam was divided into 2 states, the Communist controlled North and the Doctatic controlled South. -

French for relaxation and it helped to improve the US from Soviet relations. -
Vietnamization
Agreement with North Vietnam that the USA will withdraw its forces. "Peace with Honor" -
Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan
The USSR had a 10 year war against Afghan rebels. -
Perestroika
Gradual changing of the Soviet economy. Allowing private enterprise and dismantling of national bureaucracy. -
Glasnost
Openness to freedom of expression r Soviet citizens. -
Berlin Wall Torn Down
East Germany was reunified with West Germany and it was an accident. -
The Soviet Breakup
Because of the coming of the end to the Cold War the USSR was split up into 15 separate republics. -
