  • Beginning of World War II

    Germany launched an attack on Poland, which made World War II begin. Poland had the support of Great Britain and France, they promised to help Poland whenever they got attacked.
  • World War II ends

    After the war ended, alot of Europe and Asia had a lot of its cities, farms, and villages had been destroyed. Food, Medicine and shelter were scarce and also a lot of people died during the war.

    After the war, the relationship between the Soviet Union and the Western nations never got better through out the years, soon after that the U.S and the Soviet Union were in an era of tension and hostility which later became lnown as the Cold War.

    The Soviets blocked off all land, rail, and water routes into West Berlin.Berlins residents were no longer able to get food, coal, and other kind of supplies.
  • North Koreans Attack

    North Korean attacks South Korea, their plan was to unite the country under a Communist Government.In 1953 both North Korea and South Korea agrred to an armistice.
  • Soviet Union Launches Sputnik

    The arms race took another leap from ward with the Soviet Union's successful launch of Sputnick. Sputnick was history's first artificial satellite-an object that orbits the earth.
  • Belgium ends its colonia control in 1960

    Belguim ended its colonial controlof the Congo. After the Belguims left the Congo military leader Joseph Mobutu took control.
  • Cuba's Bay of Pigs

    American officials had believed the Bay of Pigs Invasion would start a massive Cuban uprising against Castro.
  • Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962

    The Cuban missile crisis was a confrontation between the U.S and the Soviet Union over the instullation of nuclear missiles. After two weeks the Soviet leaders removed the missiles when the U.S also agreed to remove the U.S missiles.

    The African country of Angola won independence from Portugal, but years of civil war followed.

    The United States and the Soviet Union supported opposing sides in this conflict, which lasted until 1991
