George C. Marshall plegded to help with a countries economic and military problems, as long as they fight aganist communism. This is a main cause of the crsis berlins faces. -
Crisis in Berlin
The soviet blocked all land, rail and water routes to Western Germany. This stopped all import of food, coal, and other important supplies. -
The Berlin Wall
The Berlin wall was created, it was a symbol of communism. It separted 1,000's and causes many problems on a social and economical scale. -

NATo was an organization created to stop the spreading of communism. Along with forming military bonds in western germany. -
Atomic Bombs
The Soviet Union tests their atomic bombs, this took away any military advatage that the US had. THe US began development of new more advance weapons right away. -

The US tested the first Hydrogen bomb, it had great results. But with the new technology advances, their military tatctics would have to change. Along with the Soviet Union soon creating and testing their own hydrogen bombs. -
Testing Ban
THe United States and the Soviet Union agreed to a treaty banning the testing of nuclear tesing in the atmosphere, space , and underwater. -

President Nixon was elected and and planned to loosen the tension between the US and the Soviet Union. He created SALT I & II to talk about the about treaty to stop the deveopment of weapons. -
Berlin Wall Falling Down
In 1989 the Berlin wall was bought down and the Soviet Union's power became weaker on eastern Germany. -
End of War
In 1991, all 15 republics, in the old Soviet Union, declared independence. Ending the Cold war, and the tension between the Soviet union and the US.
