    In this moment in time being caught or assumed a commuinist was bad. The gonvernment chose the "top ten people" that they assumed or knew were communist told everyone to not hire them or accept them. Because of this people could not get hired anywhere,become famous, get books published,get movies out,etc.
  • HUAC

    HUAC
    A committee that held hearings on the film and entertainment industries from 1938-1958. Congress has two reasons for holding these meetings: to obtain information useful for crafting legislation and to oversee the executive branch of government.
  • Yalta Conference

    Yalta Conference
    The Yalta Conference about how the Big Three agreed that Poland,Bulgaria,and Roamnia would hold gree elections. But Stalin later reneged on this promise. Roosevelt and Churchill were not in a good position to press Stalin too hard.The Red Army already occupid much of Eastern Europe, and Roosevelt wanted Soviet help in the war against Japen. Vague promises were about as much as Stalin would give.

    The U.N. also known as the United Nations was an organization that, many hoped,would suceed where the league of Nations had failed. In April 1945, delegates from 50 nations met in San Francisco to write the charter for the U.N. The Senate overwhelmingly ratified the charter, and the UN later set up its permanent home in New York City.

Ethel the women almost got away but they caught her to,they say that she wrote notes from meetings on "jello boxes". The trial went on and they both did not get away with it.
