    Potsdam Confrence
    was held at Cecilienhof, the home of Crown Prince Wilhelm Hohenzollern, in Potsdam, occupied Germany, from July 16 to August 2, 1945. Participants were the Soviet Union, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The three nations were represented by Communist Party General Secretary Joseph Stalin, Prime Ministers Winston Churchill and later, Clement Attlee, and President Harry S. Truman.The goals of the conference included the establishment of post-war order, and peace treaties issues.

    Joseph McCarthy was a major influence during this time, he esablished the term "McCarthism". He accused hundreds of average Americans of being communist. The Hollywood Ten were also accused. Americans wanted to blame someone, anyone, for the problems over seas.

    The Bay of Pigs Invasion was an unsuccessful action by a CIA-trained force of Cuban exiles to invade southern Cuba, with support and encouragement from the US government, in an attempt to overthrow the Cuban government of Fidel Castro.
