    "Part 1" Yugoslavia becomes Communist
    Description:
    During the Cold War the Yugoslav government allied with the Soviet Union under Joseph Stalin. After the breakaway from the Soviet sphere, Yugoslavia formed its own form of communism, informally called "Titoism". Yugoslavia refused to take part in the communist Warsaw Pact and instead took a neutral spot in the Cold War.

    Analysis:
    Despite a strong economic growth, Yugoslavia collapsed. Because the citizens didn't like the communist lifestile, they wanted to change something in their country. Tito was liked by most of the citizens even if he was for the wrong viewpoint. But he held the country together, so it didn't burst. As soon as he died the country and all of Tito's work collapsed because noone could deal with the current situation and the country broke apart.

    The prospect of further Communist expansion prompted the United States and 11 other Western nations to form the NATO. It means the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). The Soviet Union and its affiliated Communist nations in Eastern Europe founded a rival alliance in 1955.

    The creation of NATO brought some standardization of allied military procedures, and technology, which in many cases meant European countries adopting US practices. The Allies helped each other to fight against the communism.

    The communist countries in Eastern Europe founded a rival alliance, the Warsaw Pact, in 1955. It is a mutual defense organization that put the Soviets in command of the armed forces of the member states. Their enemy is the NATO.

    Analysis:
    The traty called on the member states to come to defense of any member attacked by an outside force. It set up a unified military command under a Marshall of the Soviet Union, so the USSR has the force over all communist countries in Eastern Europe.

    Description:
    The U.S. was behind the USSR in the "Space Race", but in the year 1969 the Americans are changing that with sending the first man to the moon. It is the first moon landing and the first man to walk on the moon. The Crew on the Apollo 11 was Neil Armstrong, Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin and Michael Collins.

    Analysis:
    Worldwide, the mission is regarded as a landmark in man’s history. With sendeing a man to the moon, the U.S. won the "Space Race". It was a big step for the science to understand the emerge of the earth and universe.

    "Part 1" USSR invades Afghanistan
    Description:
    In December 1979, the Soviet Union sent thousands of troops into Afghanistan and immediately assumed complete military and political control of Kabul and large portions of the country. The final troop withdrawal started in May 1988, and ended in February 1989, under the last Soviet leader, Mikhail Gorbachev.

    The Soviet intervention in Afghanistan was a costly and, ultimately, pointless war. The Soviet invasion in Afghanistan is often viewed as the beginning of the end for the USSR as a world power.

    The years following the end of World War II Germany was divided into democratic West Germany and communist Easr Germany . Germany was officially reunified after 45 years of postwar division. The purpose of the Berlin Wall was to keep the Western fascists from entering East Berlin. In November 1989 the tared the wall down and reunited East and West Germany.

    The reunitification made Germany the heart of Europe. It got back its political, economical and geographical status in Europe.

    Description:
    With the fall of the Berlin Wall the USSR and their communist vision lost more and more followers. The borders between West and East get opened again. The democratic vision gets more power. As soon as the carrier of the current president of the USSR is over the Soviet Union collapses and turned into the Russian Federation.

    Analysis:
    The Soviet economy became too large to manage by state planner. This resulted in failed economic policies. When the Soviet Union did allow individual republics more autonomy, tax revenues were withheld.
