    Truman Doctrine
    A policy made by Harry Truman to support Greece and Turkey both economically and military wise. This won the support of the republicans (in charge of congress) and this also ended up using $400 million. The military was never sent. This later became extended to the basis of the American Cold War Policy.
  • Marshall Pact

    Marshall Pact
    Officially the European Recovery Program, to rebuild Europe after WWII and prevent the spread of communism. The plan looked to the future and ignored the already given destruction. More help was given to the allies than the neutral but created the largest period of growth of Europe.
  • NATO

    NATO
    North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A system of collective defense with mutual defense in response to an external attack. This brought standardization of ally terminology, procedures and technology.
  • Soviets and the Nuclear Bomb

    The Soviets have detonated it's first nuclear bomb on a remote test site, code name: First Lightning. To test the power of the bomb, the soviets created modern structures and obstacles before setting off the bomb. The effect was similar to the first US bomb.

The reason for China going communist is mostly due to Mao Zedong, a poorly educated child with high intelligence that joined a nationalist army. Later he was influenced by Marxism andprevailed during the civil and japanese war.

    A war between North and South Korea, resulting in the division of Korea. South Korea bombed a bridge in order to stop the North Koreans. North Koreans then committed the Seoul hospital massacre.

    Mutual defense treaty between eight communists states of Eastern Europe during the cold war. Establishes under the soviet union and a n integration of West Germany.
  • Vietnam War

    Vietnam War
    This war was an attempt to unify Vietnam by preventing a communist nation. U.S. had helped within this war, however even when they withdrew the fighting continued. Then North Vietnam defeated South to which South surrended and Vietnam stayed communist.

    This attack was an utter failure of an attempt to remove communism from such close shores of the United States. This was also to protect the raw supplies entering the US. This was done by choosing to spend thousands of dollars and send troops to Cuba with a thoughtless tactic.

    The wall was put up during the night and stayed up for 28 years to keep Germans from fleeing. Meeting between the East and West side of Berlin was prohibited by the wall and ruined many normal day lives.

    A 13-day confrontion between Cuba and the Soviet Union and the United States.This is the point where the cold war was closest to becoming a nuclear conflict.
  • 6 Day War

    6 Day War
    The Third Arab-Isreali war which included Egypt and Syria. Egypt was involved due to the suprising bombing from ISreali and Syria had taken a blow from ariel forces. Within 6 days, Isreal had won and taken control of the Gaza Strip and the Sinai Penninsula.

    At exactly 9:32AM, Neil Armstrong and his comrades land on the moon and ended the moon race. The trip itself took just over 3 days and many hours of training for the astronauts. This was viewed by at least 500 million TV viewers.
