    Emmett Till Death
    Emmett Till, a 14 year old African-American boy who was wrongly accused of flirting with a white woman, was forced to carry a carry a 75 cotton gin fan to the bank of a river, get undressed, was beat to death, shot in the head, and his eyes got gouged out. His two killers had relations to the white woman Till apparently flirted with, and threw his body in the river tied to the cotton gin fan with barbed wire. His body was found 3 days later.
  • Montgomery Bus Boycott

    Montgomery Bus Boycott
    Rosa Parks was on her way home on a bus from work when a white man came onto the bus. As a black woman, she was expected to give up her seat to thewhite man, but this time she refused. This sparked a Boycott in Alabama.This Boycott lasted 381 days until December 21, 1956. Black people refused to take the bus therefore leaving the bus drivers low paid.
  • Segregation Laws in Alabama

    The U.S Supreme Court ruled that Alabama's racial segregation laws were inconstitutional
  • Malcolm X and the Nation of Islam

    Malcolm X and the Nation of Islam
    Malcolm X had joined the Nation of Islam, and became a prominent leader in leading the group after he was released from prison.

    Freedom Rides
    The Congress Of Racial Equality (CORE) challenged the segregation laws and created Freedom Rides where buses would consist of black and white people not separated. The first Freedom Ride left Washington D.C and was traveling to New Orleans. Although this was see nas a positive thing, the Freedom Rides attracted white mobs that consisted of the KKK and they would attack the freedom riders and destroy the buses

    The president John F. Kennedy, delivered a speech on civil rights on public radio and television from the OVal Office. This speech changed civil rights from a legal to a moral issue.

His 17 minute speech drove equality not just for black people, but for both black and white Americans. The speech is deemed one of the or the greatest speech ever given in history.

    John F. Kennedy was travelling with his wife in an open car through Dallas, when he got in the neck, and finally another through his head which ultimately killed him. After desperate surgery to save his life, John Kennedy was announced dead at 1pm at the age of 46

    While speaking at a rally of his organization in New York City, Malcolm X was shot which killed him by members of the Nation of Islam. The outrage of his assasination acted as a push to the formation of the Black Panther Party

    Black Panthers Party
    The Black Panthers Party was founded bby Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale, which it was influenced by Malcolm X's beliefs. These beliefs were the ideas of black nationalism and the necessity of violence in order to get freedom from white oppression. The party didn't last for long as no other citizens agreed with their beliefs and aims.

    At 6:01pm, Martin Luther King Jr. was standing on the balcony of his motel room in Memphis, Tennessee, when he was hit with a sniper bullet that ultimately killed him. He was announced dead at 7:05pm. His death caused an outrage through citizens in America as it started riots and controversy.
