Rosa married Raymond Parks, a self- educated man who was a member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
-
Raymond, her husband, had helped support and encourage her to go to school and get her diploma.
-
Rosa Parks went to get onto the bus after paying the fare and the bus driver, James Blake, told her she needed to re-enter through the back. She refused and didn't ride the bus.
-
She joined as a member and shortly became the chapter secretary
-
Like any other day, Rosa Parks got onto the bus and sat in the "colored people" area but when the bus became full, James Blake, bus driver, told her to give up her seat so a white man could sit down. She refused and got arrested.
-
Word traveled fast that Rosa was arrested for refusing to give up her seat. The black population of Montgomery would then boycott buses on the day of Rosa's trial.
-
The boycotts stopped after they received the written order.
