For the 381 days that it lasted no black person would ride trhe bus and it ended once the Supreme Court ruled segregation on public transport unconstitutional.

    After the arrest of Rosa Parks in December of 1955,when she refused to give up her seat to a white man, Montgomery's black leaders called for a boycott of the buses, and over 90 percent of blacks complied. This made the issue get brought to the surpreme court and on this day they ruled segrigation on public transport uncostitutional in Alabama.

    This day MLK's birthday became a fedral holiday to honor him. He was a famous and very influintial civil rights leader who was loved and honered by many. he made many famous speaches like "I have a Dream." Unfortanatley he was assasinated on April, 24, 1968 at he age of 39.
