Supreme Court rules that segragation in public schools is unconstintutional. Public schools were now to be equal.

A African American women is arrested for sitting in the whites only section on a bus. When she refused to give up her seat for a white male she was arrested. This showed that even though she paid for a spot on the bus that she had to give her seat up just because she was black.

As 9 African American students try to enter school they were met and followed the a group of protestors. This showed that even tho it was legal for them to go to school it still wasn't allowed in the south.

Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated by James Earl Ray. This outraged the African Americans because he stood up for what they believed in and they had lost hope.
