Skipping the terrible twos.....here are the three's
At three years old Rory is a highly active and inquizitive little man. He has been interested in using the toilet for a while, but is such an energetic child that he forgets to stop when he feels the urge. He has all the signs of readiness, such as staying dry for at least 2 hours during the day, or waking up dry after naps. (Feldman, R.; pg 213) There is no pressure on Rory to be pushed to toilet train, when he is ready he will be sucessfull due to it being on his own time.

"I can do it" First day of Kindergarden
Rory is very excited for his first day of Kindergarden. He had been given opportunities to act with self-relianance and with that has the abiltity to meet need adventures with a positive outlook. Erickson called this stage Initiaitve - vs - guilt stage. (Feldman, R.;pg249) When Rory attempts and fails a new adventure, he has had the feeling of guilt of failure. With supportive parents and teachers the feeling of guilt will not stay for long.
  • Magnificent 7

    Magnificent 7
Rory and his friends make up all kinds of games to play with a strong social base. Incipient cooperation (Feldman, R.;pg 262) is when the games the children play have more of a social importance than just for fun. Rules are rules and not to change, and that is how they play on an equal basis.

10 years old..."we trust each other"
At 10 Rory and his best friends have a simple based relatioinship on trust. Stage 2 of Willams Damons view on the childs friendship is based on mutual turst.(Feldman, R.; pg 334) Being there when one of Rory's friends needs help is important to him, as well as if he needs moral support from them. When feelings are hurt, there needs to be a discussion on what happened and a strong apology made.

    Eyerolling 14
At 14 Rory knows everything and that the way he thinks and what he knows is the right way. Hense, the eye rolling when corrected or redireced. Rory's metacognition is about the knowledge that peope have about their own thinking process and to manage and adjust thier own cognition.(Feldman, R.;pg 381)

    16 and driving
Rory was frustrated because all his friends got their drivers licenense before he did. With being the youngest of his peers he fell into the roll of "the baby of the group" . Rory is in the the identity-versus-identity-confusion state (Feldman, R. ;pg409) Finding where he fits with his friends, beaking the roll of being the baby of the group to what he feels is a full fledged peer is important to Rory. Getting his drivers license will place him on an equal level as his older peers.

    18 "I am an adult"
18 seems to be a magical number, where once it is hit the little boy now is magically a man, a "all knowing, all seeing" man. Adolecent egocentrism (Feldman, R.;pg382) it is a very self-absorpted stated where they think only of themselves. They are the center of the world and everyone is there for their entertainment. Rory, even though is 18, still has a lot of growing up to do in the form of maturartion.
