    Macy's was orignated in New York. Due to the creation of a national marketplace it changed the way people spent their money. People were able to go and shop at department stores.

    He made the first practicle type writer. He also helped with other type writing products and in 1868 he actually patented the typewriter.

    In 1873, he began building a steel plant so he could produce railroad tracks in Pittsburgh, Pennslyvania. He also came up with a steel-making method which allowed him to convert iron ore into steel with less labor being involved. The price of steel rails dropped from $107 per ton to $32 per ton by 1890.

    Woolworth helped aide the production of nationwide chain store systems. He had come up with five-and-ten-cent stores which grew through many towns and cities.

He also helped aide in the production of electrical power. In 1880, Edison patented his lightbulb invention. Mdae the first Practical light bulb. He also has other inventions like the phonograph.

    Mergenthaler was an inventor. He was also known for the Linotype. The linotype was a composing machine that produces lines of words as single strips of metal. This was used greatly during the newspaper making process. In 1884, he patented his Linotype invention.
