    Brown v. Board of Education
    In Topeka, KS, the parents of Linda Brown took a case to Supreme Court because little Linda could not attend the school only a few blocks away from her home, with her white friends. She was forced to travel to the other side of town to attend a "Colored" school. The parents of Linda Brown hired Thurgood Marshall as a lawyer and Chief Justice Earl Warren was the Judge in the Court. This act resulted in integration among schools.
  • Montgomery Bus Boycott

    Montgomery Bus Boycott
    In Montgomery, AL, the arresting of Rosa Parks resulted in a boycott of all buses. This act of non-violence, lead by Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks, inforced the act of integrating all buses.
  • Pearsall Plan

    Pearsall Plan
    North Carolina adopted the Pearsall Plan, leaded by Governor Hodges. The plan was used to continue school segregation, but it soon failed. The Pearsall Plan was soon declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court.
  • Little Rock Nine

    Little Rock Nine
    In Little Rock, Arkansas nine African American students were sent to enroll in Litttle Rock Central High School. Elizabeth Eckford went to the all white high school and was mobbed by many White Americans. There were many acts that were made to stop this action, but President Eisenhower supported the nine students' registration. This resulted in integration of schools.
  • Greensboro Sit-In

    Greensboro Sit-In
    The Greensboro Sit-In influenced many acts around the world. At a business in Greensboro, NC, four black males sat down at a "White Only" lunch counter and refused to leave until they were served. Police men walked by them several times, but they still remain seated. This caused many similar events all around the world involving High School and College students. This act resulted in a new civil rights group.
