    Emma Albani

    In August 1860 Emma Albani was a soloist in the world premiere of Charles Wugk Sabatier's Cantata in Montreal which was performed in honor of the visit of the Prince of Wales. Sadly her family was poor and could not afford an education in Montreal so they moved to Albany, New York in 1865.     "O Canada'
    "O Canada" was written by Calixa Lavallée who based it off of the poem by Sir Adolphe-Basile Routhier in the 1870's. The lyrics were originally in French.     Robert S. Ambrose a Canadian writer composed "One Sweetly Solemn Thought" in 1876. It became one of the most popular songs to be published in the 19th century.
