    On March 7th 1876 a patent was issues to Alexander Graham Bell for a device that would transmit voice. On march 10th the first ever call was made. Bell spoke the first words "Watson, come here! I want to see you!" This was a huge step for mankind and would affect business and how communication was done forever.
  • The Lightbulb

    In 1878 Thomas Edison and his team of researchers created what was known as the first realistic implication of a light bulb. Edison filed a patent for a light bulb with a carbon filament. Although light bulbs have come a long way, the basic principle remains. And this invention changed not only business but the world forever.

    In 1903 the Ford Motor Company was founded by Henry Ford and changed the game for transportation in this country. Ford has released the Model T in 1908 which was the most successful vehicle of its time. Sales skyrocketed and so did profits. Ford and the Motor Company were the first to utilize the idea of assembly line manufacturing, which is still used today.

Arguably one of the most impactful events of the century. Air travel would change transportation of people and goods forever.

    The Federal Reserve was created in 1913. The Federal Reserve was a very important banking system created in out country to avoid financial crisis. The Federal reserve plays a large role in business, because it takes alot of the risk out of owning a business. The Federal Reserve controls interest rates, works towards maximizing employment rates, and stabilizes our economy and prices. Without the Federal Reserve we would have an extremely unpredictable market.

    In 1946, AT&T introduced their first mobile telephone neTHese first examples of mobile phones were far different than we are used to today. The phones weighed about 80 pounds and only had about 5000 users at the start. Mobile phones make business possible today by speeding up the process of communication, and allowing anyone to communicate with whoever they need in just an instant. They speed the process of everything related to business, making things more efficient.

    The Lanham act, passed in 1946 by Harry Truman, is the federal statue which governs trademark policies and laws. This act has a huge impact on business because it protects companies ideas from being stolen and reused. This keeps a fair and balanced playing field, allowing equal opportunity to everyone.

    In 1956 President Eisenhower created the Federal Aid Highway Act, which authorized the construction of the beginnings of the interstate highways spanned across the country now. These interstates brought quicker and easier travel of goods, which has a huge impact on every aspect of business today.

These microprocessors were the beginning to the amazing technology helping business run smoothly across the nation today.

    The bar code changed the way business and sales were done. Before the bar code transactions were done manually. The bar code along with the UPC scanner changed the way many types of business were conducted. Making transactions smoother, easier, and faster. The First scanners were made by NCR Corp. in 1974, and were used at Marsh's Supermarket in Troy, Ohio.

    In 1991, a programmer in Switzerland introduced the World Wide Web. There had been for years other forms of sending information back and forth but this was the first instance of the "WEB" as we know it today. And it was just that, a web of information that could be shared among others. This in my opinion has had the greatest impact of all on business. Everything in business is done over the internet now, none of which would be possible if not for Tim Berners - Lee.
