    The black codes were meant to control the freed African Americans. Although, the black codes surely added some more advantages to their lives they still didn't have a lot of freedom. Even the supreme court had ruled that African Americans are not citizens. President Johnson tried to stop the unconstitutional laws, but his vetoes were overrided by the Republicans

    The Reconstruction Acts was a very big change to the government. It added 5 new districts to the military, but above that it forced everyone to approve the 14th amendment. Also, they gave voting rights.

    The amendment gives citizenship rights and equal protection to all. It was introduced during the freedom of slaves. From that time African Americans were protected by the Civil Rights.

    This Amendment allowed everybody to vote. no matter what race, culture, religion, etc. It was also know as the last Reconstruction Amendment.

    This was the first law in the United States that protected ALL the citizens. No matter what race, cultutre, religion, etc. President Andrew Johnson vetoed it, but the Congress managed to passed the bill.
