Age twelve, fifty eight years old
Benjamain has just turned 12, and with this birthday, he makes the astonishing discovery that he is losing age, and growing younger. He does not however share this with his parents. "Did his eyes decive him, or had his hair turned in the dozens of years in his life from white to iron-gray under its conceling dye?"(68) -
Age eighteen, fifty years old.
Benjamain is acepted to Yale, but later made to leave as the regastrotor did not belive that he was only 18 years of age." 'Thats me!' burst out Benjamain. 'I'm a freshman.' "(70) -
Age 20, Working for RB&Co
By siglanizing his birthday, Benjamin goes to work for his fathers company, Roger Button&Co., Wholesale Hardware. This also marked the point in which he is taken out with his father. "Old Fellow can't learn new tricks, it's you youngsters with energy and vitality that have the great futere beyond you."(71) -
40 years, Wife is older than him
Benjamin's wife has passed his age and is starting to look unatractive to him, and he sees that he should be with a younger woman, as he himself is continualy getting younger. "There was no doubt about it, the process was continuing. He now looked a man of thirty."(76) -
Age 50, takes over fathers company
As Benjamin ages younger to twenty, Roger Button&Co., wholsale Hardware is handed down to his son, Roscoe, and at the same time, he enters college, however he choses Harvard this time. "He was admited, and almost imidiatly attained a promanent possitionm in the class, partly because he seemed a little older than the other freshmen, whose average age was 18."(78) -
Age 60, First child born
Roscoe Button has just had his first child, but at this time, he is so young, he is a ten year old running arounfd the house. "...apperently of about ten years, who played around the house with lead soldiers and a miniature circus, was the babys new grandfather."(81) -
End of Benjamins life
This marks the end of Benjamin's life, as he slowly gets younger and younger, passing through kindergarden, then being taken care of by Nana, his nurse. "Then it was all dark, and his white crib and the dim faces that moved above him, and the sweet aroma of milk, faded out altogether from his mind."(83)
