    Malmedy Massacre
    On December 17th, 1944 84 American prisoners were brutally murdered. The war crime angered the Americans badly.
  • Siege of Bastogne

    The Siege of Bastogne was when the Germans had planned to take on the city of Bastogne, Belgium, and take all the main roadways. They did this because they wanted to regain the Antwerp Port. All the major roadways merged together in Bastogne.
  • Battle of St. Vith

    Very similar to the Siege of Bastogne; the Battle of St. Vith was the Germans hoping to take over vital road junctions, so they could advance toward the Port of Antwerp. America ended up withdrawing because "This terrain is not worth a nickel an acre to me"(Clarke, C. Bruce).
  • Battle of Elsenborn Ridge

    The Battle of Elsenborn Ridge was the only section of American lines that Germany failed to advance through. A lot like many other battles, this battle was fought so Germany could advance towards the Port of Antwerp.
