    Navigation Acts
    Acts of Parliament intended to promote the self-sufficiency of the British Empire by restricting colonial trade to England and decreasing dependence on foreign imported goods.
  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    Removed European rivals to the North and South and opened the Mississippi Valley to westward expansion. George Washington’s surrender to French forces at the Battle of Fort Necessity helped to spark the French and Indian War. An it was ended by the Treaty of Paris in 1763.

    Created Commies of Correspondence to broaden the British resistance. The cause of the Boston Massacre was the Stamp Acts being enforced. Colonists rioted, destroyed property and intimidated appointed tax collectors. The Boston Massacre helped to unite the colonies against Britain.
