Navigation Acts
an act of Parliament to promote the British Empire’s self-sufficiency ( independence ) in restricting the colonist’s trade. -
French and Indian War Ends.
Lasted seven years. Gave the British a whole bunch of land in North America. War began over the Ohio River valley belonging to the British or not. -
Stamp Act
This act made the colonist required to pay taxes. This stamp would be put on legal papers and documents. The British made this act. Hard to pay for. -
Boston Massacre
Began as a street fight with colonists throwing random objects such as stones and sticks. The British killed many of the colonists. -
Tea Act
Granted companies the right to directly ship tea to the 13 colonies instead of to England and then to the colonies. -
Boston Tea Party
Colonists dumped in 300+ chests of tea in the Boston Harbor after being angry with British stance on “taxation without representation.” -
Coercive/Intolerable Acts
Allowed the Royal Navy to Block off anything from going in or out of the Boston Harbor. -
First Continental Congress
When 12 of the 13 colonies delegates got together to talk about America’s future. -

Crucial turning point. Fought for 18 days. Two battles were fought. Continental Army won. -
Battle of Yorktown
America trapped a major Great Britain army and the army surrendered after about three weeks of fighting. -
U.S. Constitution Written
Created fundamental laws of the US. helped to establish checks and balances and separated power between the branches of government. -
U.S. Constitution Adopted
39/55 delegates signed this document. This document gave the country a stable government. and officially made the colonies into a country.
