    Magna Carta (1215)

    After being so fed up in 1215, The Barons rebelled up to pressure King John into signing The Magna Carta. This document was the first type of formal document, stating that the king had to follow all the laws and guarantee individual rights to the people.
  • Jamestown, Virginia (1607)

    In 1607 (104) English men and boys arrived in North America to start a settlement. On May 13 they chose Jamestown, Virginia which was named after King James 1st. This was the first permanent English settlement in North America.
  • Virginia House of Burgesses (1619)

    The House of Burgesses, the first legislative assembly in the American colonies, held its first assembly in the summer of 1619.
    There were 22 Burgesses representing 11 plantations (settlements), were elected representatives for this American legislative assembly.
  • Mayflower Compact (1620)

    The Mayflower Compact Document was signed by 41 English colonists on the Mayflower ship, on November 11, 1620. This document gave self-government to America and was greatly enforced.
  • Fundamental Orders of Connecticut (1639)

    The Fundamental Orders of Connecticut was Known as the first constitution of America. This "constitution" established the structure and powers of their government.
  • Navigation Acts (1651)

    The Navigation acts of 1651 were made to enforce the governments control over the trade between England, and other colonies around the world. England's American colonies could only export their goods through English ships.
  • English bill of rights (1689)

    The English bill of rights is an act that the Parliament of English passed on December 16, 1689. This ''bill'' creates separation of powers, limits the power on the king and queen , and gives right of freedom of speech.
  • Zenger Trial (1735)

    The trial of Peter Zenger, he was accused of "Libel" which meant back then that he published information that was opposed to the government.
  • French and Indian war (1754-1763)

    The French and Indian war all started because the British wanted to settle in the Ohio River Valley . George Washington led an army an army against the french although he was defeated, then the British declared war on the french and the french were defeated by British. At the end of day the British won the war and all of this was ended with the Treaty of Paris in 1763.
  • Treaty of Paris (1763)

    The Treaty of Paris ended the French and Indian war, a war between Great Britain and France. In the terms of the treaty France gave up all its territory in North America.
  • Proclamation Line (October 7, 1763)

    The Proclamation line of 1763 was issued by King George 3d from England. this followed the acquisition of Great Britain taking all of the French's territory. All the proclamation line is, is a line drawn along the Appalachian Mountains.
  • Sugar Act (1764)

    In 1764 the Parliament passed the Sugar Act, it lowered the duty on foreign produced molasses. It lowered the tax on molasses which was to induce importers to buy molasses from British instead of smuggling it.
  • Stamp Act (March 22, 1765)

    The Stamp act was passed by the British parliament. this required a tax on every piece of paper they used, and also all legal documents and licenses required a royal stamp that was made out of silver coins, which were very rare.
  • Quartering Act (May 3, 1765)

    This act was also passed by the Parliament of Great Britain that was made to house the British soldiers and to feed and treat them just as if they were family.
  • Townshed act (1767)

    Tis act was as well passed by the Parliament. This act taxed goods like glass, paper, lead, tea, oil, and paint. this act made the colonists extremely mad.
  • Boston Massacre (March 5, 1770)

    The Boston Massacre, was a horrible decision made by the British redcoats. When British Redcoats were on in Boston Prior to Enforce acts and laws. No one knows who's started the fight, but a group of American colonies five of those men died on on them was Crispus Attucks a Black man who was down for fighting for his colonie.
  • Tea act (May 10, 1773)

    The Tea Act was passed by the British Parliament, this act put a tax on the tea.
  • Boston Tea Party (December 6, 1773)

    The Boston Tea Party was a protest by colonists in Boston that were against the Tea Act. The Boston patriots dressed as Indians, they raided three British ships in Boston Harbor and dumped 342 containers of Tea into the Harbor.
  • Intolerable Acts (1774)

    The Intolerable acts were passed by British Parliament. This served as a punishment, during the ''party'' of the Boston tea party. Boston closed all it's harbor's until the colonist said for the tea they threw i not the harbor.
  • 1st Continental congress (1774)

    Delegates from the 13 colonies met in Philadelphia as "THE FIRST CONTINENTAL CONGRESS" to organize colonial resistance to all of Great Britain's Acts.
  • Battle of Lexington & Concord (April 19, 1775)

    "Shot Heard around the world".
    This was the very first revolutionary war in 1775 when the British sent troops down to the colonies to confiscate all weapons, but while in their kings order they run into an untrained angry militia. This horrible colonial "army" defeated 700 British soldiers, and boost up their confidence.
  • 2nd Continental Congress (May 5, 1775)

    Another meeting of the 13 colonies met shortly after the american revolution had began.
  • Battle of bunker hill (June 17, 1775)

    British soldiers trying to get revenge for their loss at Lexington, but end up the same with no soldiers either all were dead or wounded. At this battle American soldiers were low on ammunition and used Guerrilla tactics to fight the British, even though the British still won.
  • Declaration of Independence (July 4, 1776)

    We the United states of America adopted the Declaration of independence, at philadelphia.
  • Common Sense Published (January 10, 1776)

    Thomas Paine wrote Common sense. He explained that the people must fight towards the unfair and unjust ways of King George 3rd.
  • Winter at valley Forge (1777-1778)

    Valley Forger was the military home base for the American, in a harsh winter with starvation and disease these conditions killed more than 2,500 American soldiers by February 1778.
  • Articles of confederation (March 1, 1777)

    The continental congress adopted the articles of confederation but did not come in effect till March 1, 1777. We had the power to declare war, appoint military officers, sign treaty, make alliances, make relations with Inidans.
  • Battle of Saratoga (September 19, 1777)

    This was the turning point in the American revolutionary war, the American forces made British general John Burgoyne surrender causing the Americans to win and to also to 5,895 British and Hessian troops surrender in their arms.
  • Battle of Yorktown (October 19, 1781)

    The Battle of Yorktown, last major American revolutionary Battle. The continental army led by George Washington won a victory against British army led by General john Cornwallis.
  • 2nd Treaty of Paris (1787)

    This Ended the entire American revolution, and gave recognition to the 13 Colonies; this also solved all fair trade with British.
