    School segregation is ended
    On May 17th The supreme Court ruled on the milestone case Brown vs. Board of Education that segregation in Public schools across the nation was unconstitutional. This decision opened the path for large-scale desegregation.

    Emmett Till
    Emmett Till was a 14 year old African American boy visitting family in Mississippi when he was kidnapped, brutually beaten and shot. He was then later dumped in the Tallahatchie River all for allegedaly whistling at a white woman.
  • Rosa Parks

    Rosa Parks
    1st December 1955, Rosa Parks a member of the NAACP refused to give up her seat to a white passenger, defying the bus rules. This led to her being arrested and given a $10 fine. In response to her arrest the black community launched a Bus boycott which lasted a year untill the Buses we Desegregated in December 21st, 1956.
