    D-Day
    A three phase operation to take back France. It tarted by the US, British, and Canadian paratroopers were dropped between the shore line and the central area of power. The second step was to bomb Normandy to weaken German control. The last phase was to storm the 5 beaches with warships and landing crafts protecting the soldiers. This was an im[portant event because the Allies gained back the western front and severly weakened German forces.

    Liberation of Paris
    French rebels decided to take acton of the Germans occupying France. After constant pressure Hitler ordered for Paris to be burnt to the ground. The rebels had stoped this and forced General Dietrich von Choltitiz to surrender. After four years France was finally free.

    Allied Offensive in Saar Valley

    This attack was to be led by General Patton. It was on the border between France and Germany but it was delayed due to weather conditions. The Allies fought heavy German resistance but were able to break through and it was the first time the Allies had set foot on German soil.

    On German Soil
    General Patton and troops capture the city of Metz and push into Saar Valley where they met entrenched Germans and were victorious. This was the first time Allies set foot on German soil.

    Battle of the Bulge

    The Germans launched the Ardennes attack and created a seperation in Allies forces. The skies were too cloudy for air supports so the Allies were in a jam. Eventuall the skies cleared and the Allies got air support and the Germans were endangered of being separated.

    Hitler wanted to split the Allied forces in France and planned a counter attack in the Ardennes. General Patton rushed down with his troops to help out the Allies in France and after a long battle Hitler realized that he was about to have seperatd forces and retreated out of France.

    In the west of Germany the Ally forces trapped and encircled the German forces which caused the German General to commit suicide and the rest of the 300,000+ troops to surrender. This incapacitated the German forces in the west

    Battle of Berlin

    Under the command of Marshal Georgi Zhukov, the Russians pushed into Berlin. Their tanks penetrated into Berlin on the 22nd and a week later Hitler had commited suicide. The fighting continued for a few more days and the General of the German forces in Berlin had formaly surrendered. The Russians had lost over 300,000 casualties and the Russians capture over 450,000 Germans.
