  • America Gains Independance

    In 1776 of July 4th, the Second Continental Congress signed the Declaration of Independance in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. At this time, 13 American colonies labeled themselves as 13 new and independent soveregein states. This event was important because it was the beginning of the 100 years of the U.S. and also it gave the U.S. itself independence and claimed itself not apart of the British Empire. It was also when the U.S. formed its own nation - United States of America as it is called
  • First President Was Elected

    President George Washington was elected into office on January 10th of 1789. He began serving his term in office from April 30th of 1789 until March 4th of 1797. Washington also served in Continental Army and was involved in the First & Second Continental Congress I think that this event is important because he had strong leadership qualities and that he steered the U.S. into a good direction while he was president. Plus, he made history with being the first president of the United States

    The Bill of Rights was created in order to protect people's rights and to gaurantee a number of personal freedoms from people. The Bill of Rights also limits the gonverment's power in judicial and other proceedings, and reserves some powers from the states and the public. The author of the Bill of Rights was James Madison

  • 13th Amendment To The US Constitution

    The 13th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution abolished slavery. In Congress, it was passed by the Senate n April 8th of 1864, but it was passed by the House of January 13st of 1865. On December the 6th, the Secratary of State proclaimed its adoption. It was the first of three Reconstruction Amendments adopthed following American Civil War.
