  • The Civil War

    The Civil War began in 1861 because confederate warships attacked the union soldiers at Fort Sumter, South Carolina. Robert E. Lee was the one to surrender to Ulysses S. Grant at the last major confederate army at Appomattox Courthouse on April 9, 1865.
  • Emancipation Proclamation

    The emancipation Proclamation was an executive order abolishing slavery in the confederate states of america . the letter was set up by lincoln
  • The 13th amendment

    The 13th amendment was passed on April 8, 1864. It states that they abolish slavery and let the blacks be free.
  • The 15th Amendment

    The 15th amendment states that the voting rights in the states does not have any effect on what color you are, what race you are, or what you did in your past. The law was passed February 26th 1869.
  • The Escape of Harriet Tubman

    Harriet Tubman was a runaway from Maryland who became known as the “Moses of her people.” For 10 years she led slaves out of their captivities to freedom up north. Using the Underground Railroad. The Underground Railroad was a secret network of safe houses to keep her group out of sight. This was a great women of the history of strong women of this country. Because if she were to be caught, she would have been hanged for trying to free the slaves.

    Jackie Robinson was born on January 31, 1919 in Cairo, Georgia. He was the first person in UCLA history to get 4 Varsity letters in college for Basketball, Football, Track, and Baseball. He was most famous for being the first African American to play professional baseball.
  • Emmett Till's death

    Emmett Till was a fourteen year old boy that was beaten up and murdered on August 24, 1955 by some white men. after they were done they through the body in a river. they found the body 3 days later. all of this just because he whistled at a white women.
  • Rosa Parks Bus Boycot

    Rosa Parks went on the bus after a long day of working so she sat down as soon as she got on the bus. Blacks were not supposed to be sitting in the front of the bus so she was ordered to the back of the bus but she would not go. She was arrested for not doing so
  • I have A Dream Speech

    The speech was delivered August 28, 1963 by Martin Luther King Junior. The setting was on the Lincoln memorial steps in Washington D.C. during the march on Washington for jobs and freedom of the black man.
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Assassination

    On April 4, 1968 Dr. King was shot with a .30 caliber sniper bullet. He was standing on his balcony when it happened. The bullet went through his right cheek, down his neck and out through his shoulder blade. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but it was too late. He was pronounced dead at 7:05 p.m.
