Matthew Langford Perry was born to actor John Perry and Canadian journalist Suzanne Morrison and was raised in Ottawa, Ontario.

Growing up in Canada Matthew started playing tennis at age 4. Perry was in the Junior Tennis Circuit and was ranked #2 in Ottawa at age 13. He still likes tennis and is regularly at the U.S. Open.

Matthew's parents divorced before his first birthday and moved from Ottawa to Los Angeles to live with his dad at age 15 and became interested in acting.
